UCB Celebrated 40th Bahrain National Day
University College of Bahrain (UCB) celebrated the 40th Bahrain National Day in the campus on 12-12-2012. In fact it was the most appropriate day to celebrate because 12-12-12 will be the last date of its kind - when all three numerical in a date are the same - for the next 88 years. Also it is important to awaken the youth to work together in harmony for the sake of protecting and raising the name of this country.
In context of Bahrain National Day celebration, the Student affairs Department of UCB organized an event which particularly points out the traditional values and culture of Bahrain. Two tents were put up at the entrance of Saar Building with lot of interesting activities such as Live cooking, Pottery making, and Henna designing which are the essential part of Arab culture and tradition.
The most entertaining activity of the celebration was the Falcons. Falconry is so close to the heart of Emirati culture and it is the UAE National symbol. Students and the staff were so excited to take photographs with the Falcons. The trainer also explained the practice of hunting with a conditioned falconry bird and their importance in hunting.
Traditional bazars were also set up, where students actively participated in selling items like Bahrain badges, flags, wrist bands, jackets, caps etc. The students and staff were then invited for the Big Lunch, where, traditional food was served as part of Bahrain National Day.
It is worth to mention that all above activities, organized by the Student Affairs department, was a great success. In this event, Dr. Khalid Al Khalifa, Chairman of UCB wished everyone a happy national day. He also expressed his pride and joy in student accomplishments and the support extended by teaching and administrative staff. Sheikha Saeeda expressed her thanks and appreciation to all the Students and Staff for their continued support to make this event a success.
