Under the patronage of Dr. Khalid Al Khalifa, the University College of Bahrain in association with the U.S Embassy organized a special workshop on “Script Writing” and “Story Telling” for the Department of Media & Communication students and their faculty on September 25th, 2013 at the Janabiya Auditorium, between 1:00 pm – 2:00 pm. The session was conducted by the award winning writers and producers, Mr. Andre Jacquemetton and Ms. Maria Jacquemetton, whose most publicized U.S box office TV shows include Mad Men and Star Trek, Bay Watch, High Lander & Jack Of All Trades.

Maria and André Jacquemetton are screenwriters and executive producers for programs such as Mad Men, The Cult series created by Matthew Weiner and set in a Madison Avenue ad agency during the 1960s. The series is the only cable drama to ever win the Emmy award for Outstanding Drama Series three years in a row and the Golden Globe for Best Television Drama Series. In addition, they have worked together for nearly two decades on a variety of different shows, including Star Trek: Enterprise, Highlander, Bay Watch & Jack of All Trades.

The Department of Media & Communication has been organizing a wide range of creative events and actively participating in all the seminars and conferences organized by the University’s other Departments to update their knowledge and to meet the requirements of the newly emerging inter-disciplinary approach of higher education. “We are honored to have the two experts in Script writing to share their career experiences with our students. It is indeed an inspiration for those aspiring ones to gain firsthand information from Andre’ & Maria, the award winning writing partners”, commented Sh.Ebrahim Al Khalifa, Executive Director for Strategic Planning & Innovation.
