The Red Bull Collective Art event organized at University College of Bahrain provided the students with a golden opportunity to create a unique piece of art. In partnership with Adobe, the Red Bull Collective Art took the principle of ‘Cadavre exquís’ and brought it into the digital age.
Cadavre exquís is a collaborative creative technique, first introduced by the Surrealists around 1925. It is a method by which assortments of words or images are collectively assembled. This is done in sequence, with students being able to see the end of the previous one’s contribution or following a set rule to create a unique piece of collective art.
Within a period of two weeks, the Red Bull Collective Art will allow contributors from across the world to participate in the creative process, the end product being an unparalleled piece of art on an international scale.
As UCB is offering Graphic Design as a major concentration, it was a different and exciting experience for the students to be a part of this unique art piece. The UCB students shared a common interest to be a part of the biggest and most diverse piece of artwork in the world. The event was open to all students irrespective of the academic program they were into. The lecturers also showed their interest by contributing their design. The final design will be showcased at Al Riwaq Art space for 1 week.
