30th SASE Annual Conference, Kyoto Japan

On 23-25 June 2015, the 30th Annual SASE Conference was held in Doshisha University, Kyoto, Japan. The Society for the Advancement of Socio-Economics (SASE) is an international, inter-disciplinary organization with members in over 50 countries on five continents. The academic disciplines represented in SASE include economics, sociology, political science, management, psychology, law, history, and philosophy. The membership of SASE also includes business people and policy makers in government and international organizations.

One of the papers presented at the 30th edition of the conference was written by a Faculty member of University College of Bahrain (UCB), Dr. Sutan Emir Hidayat. Dr. Hidayat, who is currently the Head of Business Administration Department, coauthored a research paper with Dr. Raditya Sukmana of Airlangga University, Indonesia titled Indonesian Waqf Performance: Challenges and Opportunities. 

The paper was presented by Dr. Sukmana at a mini conference with a theme of Socio-Economic Justice, Equality, SDGs and the Constituting of Participatory Society: The Islamic Moral Economy & Finance Project.

The participants who attended the presentation well appreciated the paper of Dr. Hidayat and Dr. Sukmana. It is concluded that there is an immense potential of Waqf in Indonesia which can be used to support the country's economic growth.
