UCB and IRTI-IDB Agreement Signing Ceremony for Co-Organizing A Thematic Workshop

On March 24, 2015 University College of Bahrain (UCB) and Islamic Research and Training Institute (IRTI) of Islamic Development Bank (IDB) reached an agreement to jointly organize a thematic workshop on "Macroprudential Regulation and Policy for Islamic Finance Industry: Theory and Application". The workshop is scheduled to be held on October 5-6, 2015 in Manama Bahrain.

The agreement was signed by UCB Executive Chairman, H.E. Shaikh Dr. Khalid M. Al-Khalifa and IRTI Director General, Prof. Dato' Dr. Mohammad Azmi Omar. The agreement signing ceremony was held in Doha, Qatar during the 10th International Conference on Islamic Economics and Finance which was attended by Dr. Sutan Emir Hidayat, Acting Dean of Business Administration and Humanities Department, UCB and Dr. Muhamed Zulkhibri, Senior Economist, IRTI-IDB.

Both Dr. Sutan Emir Hidayat and Dr. Muhamed Zulkhibri exchanged one copy of the agreement which was signed by their respective leaders. The ceremony was witnessed by Prof. Dr. M. Kabir Hassan, University of New Orleans, USA. According to Dr. Muhamed Zulkhibri, this will be the first IRTI-IDB workshop to be done in the issue of macroprudential policy and regulation for Islamic finance industry. The results of the workshop are expected to give inputs to all Islamic finance stakeholders regarding the issue. The call for papers of the workshop has been disseminated all over the world through various channels.
