(IT) with two
concentrations, Management Information Systems concentration and
Computer Science Concentration. The program offers an interdisciplinary curriculum focusing on information technology, and business administration, the resulting program is unique in that it merges traditional academic topics with leading edge and current IT practices and technology.
The overarching goal of the program is to prepare students with the broad, integrated knowledge, skills and training needed to pursue careers as Information Technologists (IT). CS&IT professionals in one of the most exciting, challenging, and dynamic field of modern technology.
Computers are indispensable in almost every pace of life, from aviation to medical diagnosis. In the era of the internet and increasing globalisation, the applications of computing continue to expand. To tailor for this expansion, we offer two concentrations, each with a different focus, delivered around a core syllabus of key computing skills.
Our programme provides multidisciplinary content that allows you to cover both the core elements of computing and the fundamental themes appropriate to the individual concentration pathway. In addition, students will have the opportunity to develop a range of personal and professional skills that will provide them with an edge upon entering the job market. The program curriculum is regularly evaluated by the program and curriculum committee of the department to ensure the quality and suitability of the skills and knowledge for the market needs.
The department is currently preparing for the accreditation of the IT program from ABET.
BSc IT Management Information Systems (MIS) Concentration.
The concentration plan in Management Information Systems prepares students to hold technical, administrative and management positions in the analysis, design, implementation, maintenance, operation and management of computer-based information systems. It is based on a broad general education and upper-level studies in computer science together with a functional management focus. It will ensure that graduates from the programme have an excellent combination of business awareness and technical skills, and other areas related to information systems, such as management, communication and accounting.
IT Computer Science (CS) Concentration
concentration plan in Computer Science prepares students to hold the
position of system developer, mobile application developer in addition
to administrative and management positions in the analysis, design,
implementation, maintenance, operation and management of computer-based
information systems. It is based on a broad general education and upper-level
studies in computer science. It will ensure that graduates from the programme
have an excellent combination of hardware, software, technical skills, and
other areas related to information systems, such as management, system
security, big data handling.
