The Learning Approach

At the University College of Bahrain we recognize that executive professional learning is achieved through experience. Case studies and simulation methods are the closest way to experiencing a situation without actually being there. This method exposes participants to real life cases with real life decisions that need to be made. This gives our participants the opportunity to test their new knowledge and to experiment with their decision-making abilities in a risk-free learning environment.

Case study and Simulation Methods

Participants begin by working through case studies and simulations on their own, analyzing data, and developing their own ideas. They then get together with their learning team (study groups) and discuss the case in-depth. Finally, they gather with the rest of their class and a professor for a lively discussion in which different ideas and thoughts are explored.

  • This learning method is based on learning discussions not lectures.
  • Participants learn how to sift through information and find the data that matters.
  • They learn how to think and make effective decisions and develop practical action plans.

Study Groups

The study groups vary from different cases and simulations. This allows everyone in the class to get to know each other, but more importantly they learn from a variety of different people with different experiences from different industries. Study groups use break-out rooms in the new state-of-the-art graduate and executive education building.

Many participants say they learn as much from their classmates as they do from the faculty. Since participants come from a variety of industries and functional areas, there's likely to be someone in their group with the specialized expertise needed to deal with almost any case.
