MBA Orientation Program

On Sunday, 28th September 2014, Orientation Program for the New MBA Students was held at the MBA building, UCB Campus from 18.00-20.00Hrs. All the new students registered for fall 2014-2015 semester attended the event which aimed to familiarize the students with the MBA program including the academic rules and regulations, campus facilities and the library book collections and databases. The event also gave the student chances to know the faculty members and the administrative officers involved in the MBA program.

At the first session, Dr. Adel Hamad Abdulrahman, Vice President of Administration and Head of Business Administration and Humanities Department at UCB, delivered his welcoming speech to the new students stressing the commitment of UCB towards quality. At the second session, Dr. Sutan Emir Hidayat, Director of MBA program at UCB, delivered a presentation about an overview of the MBA program, some important rules and regulations that must be observed by the students in order to successfully attend the program and introduced the MBA committee and faculty members who attended the event. At the third session, Mr. Samir Al-Haj, Director of Student Affairs at UCB, brought the students into a campus facilities tour showing the students the classrooms, learning resources center, cafeteria and other facilities. At the last session, the students were brought to the library where Mr. Mousa Al-Harb, Chief Librarian gave details explanations about the library resources including access to the library's books, databases, photocopy machine and scanner.

The new students appreciated the event and thanked UCB management for organizing such event.

An Academic Visit By Dr. Yoshihisa Suzuki Of Hiroshima University, Japan To UCB

On 16th September 2014, Dr. Yoshihisa Suzuki, an associate professor at Hiroshima University, Japan and his two Master Students visited University College of Bahrain (UCB) with the purpose of learning more about the UCB MBA in Islamic finance program and exploring possible cooperation between UCB and Hiroshima University in the area of research and other academic related matters.

Dr. Suzuki said that He came to know about the UCB MBA in Islamic finance program from the research papers published by a UCB's faculty member which he read on reputable International journals. Dr. Sutan Emir Hidayat, the Director of MBA program at UCB has welcome the visit and appreciated the interest of Dr. Suzuki and his two students in the UCB MBA in Islamic finance program.

Dr. Suzuki and his two students also got a chance to meet the President of UCB H.E. Shaikh Dr. Khalid M. Al-Khalifa who also appreciated the interest of Dr. Suzuki in the UCB MBA in Islamic finance program and in exploring possible cooperation between UCB and Hiroshima University in academic related matters.

Hiroshima University is a public University in Japan located in the cities of Higashi-Hiroshima and Hiroshima City. The University is ranked 47th best university in Asia by QS Asia University Rankings in 2014.

BDF-University College Of Bahrain Cooperation Discussed

Commander-in-Chief of the Bahrain Defence Force (BDF) Field Marshal Shaikh Khalifa bin Ahmed Al Khalifa met here today the President of the University College of Bahrain Shaikh Khalid bin Mohammed Al Khalifa. They discussed the existing coordination and cooperation between the BDF and the University College of Bahrain, as well as other issues of common interests.

UCB Graphic Design Exhibition 2014

GD Exhibition
Under the patronage of Dr. Khalid Al Khalifa, the 9thannual Graphic Design Exhibition was inaugurated at UCB Campus on May 23, 2014. The exhibition unraveled the visual identity of UCB and other companies as well as large scale super graphic and billboard designs. The event featured a good number of unique and creative projects of the new era.

Graphic Design graduates displayed their final year projects including photographs of China workshop trip. The works on display reflected UCB students’ skills and passions, and covered a range of mediums from drawing to typography, creative advertising and web. “The Graphic Design exhibition is organized every year so that our students get the opportunity to present their final portfolios to a discerning audience of friends, family, colleagues, and industry representatives. UCB is glad that the event runs entirely by our graphic design students and lecturers and finally the event’s success is a credit to the hard work and dedication of the Graphic Design Department”, commented Sh. Ebrahim Al Khalifa, Executive Director, Strategy & Resources.

The exhibition was open to all UCB students including their parents, other graphic designing companies and artists. The presence of English and Arabic media added flavor for the event.
