Dr. Muhammad Rizky, Assistant Professor of Islamic Finance, had participated at the Gulf Research Meeting (GRM) Conference 2023, organized by the Gulf Research Center, University of Cambridge, on 11-13 July 2023.

The paper co-authored with Prof. Shaikh Khalid Al-Khalifa about Islamic finance and sustainability was selected to be presented at Workshop-1 GRM 2023, on sustainable development financing and role of the financial sector in the GCC region.

الجدير بالذكر أن الأستاذ الدكتور خالد بن محمد آل خليفة حاصل على مؤهلات عديدة في الإدارة الاستراتيجية والتربية والتعليم العالي من جامعة هارفرد، جامعة إكسفورد، كلية وارتون وكليه لندن لإدارة الأعمال وزميل جامعة كامبردج.

On the 22nd of June 2023, the Business Administration Department has successfully conducted an Industry Advisory Board (IAB) meeting. The IAB, members from diverse professional backgrounds and expertise, provided valuable feedback to enhance and foster the continuous improvement of the Bachelor of Science in Business Administration and Master of Business Administration programs.

On the 18th of June 2023, UCB organized an honoring ceremony for undergraduate and MBA students. The ceremony started with a speech given by UCB President Dr. Rana Sawaya, congratulating the undergraduate and graduate student honorees on their academic achievements and an exemplary commitment to excel. Dr Rana Sawaya has also recognized the dedicated faculty members who have nurtured the students’ scholarly development as well as staff for their guidance and support. The speech was concluded with an inspiriting statement wishing everyone to keep their eyes focused on the destination and always enjoy the journey.

كلية البحرين الجامعية تعرف طالبات الشروق الثانوية ببرامجها الأكاديمية

شاركت كلية البحرين الجامعية في معرض "بوابة المستقبل" الذي تنظمه وزارة التربية والتعليم لطلبة المرحلة الثانوية بمملكة البحرين لتعريفهم بالتخصصات الجامعية في سلسلة من الزيارات لمختلف المدارس الحكومية.

 وحرص أعضاء الجامعة خلال زيارتهم لمدرسة الشروق الثانوية للبنات على تعريف الطالبات ببرامجها الأكاديمية وتوفير كافة الإرشادات والتوجيهات التي يحتاجها الطلبة لاختيار التخصصات المناسبة مع قدراتهم وإمكاناتهم، والإجابة على استفساراتهم المتعلقة بإجراءات التسجيل والقبول، والتخصصات، والمقررات الجامعية.

The MBA department held its re-occurring Research forum on January 31, 2023. The forum is mainly designed for MBA students to present and discuss their proposals and business projects among the students and faculty members.

University College of Bahrain conducted an orientation session for the staff titled “Best Practice for Writing Meeting Minutes” presented by Ms. Natalija Gulei.

زار وفد من كلية البحرين الجامعية للصرح التذكاري "أثر" تلبيةً لدعوة الأمين العام لمجلس التعليم العالي نائب رئيس مجلس أمناء مجلس التعليم العالي الدكتورة الشيخة رنا بنت عيسى بن دعيج آل خليفة لمؤسسات التعليم العالي بمملكة البحرين

A group of 24 employees from the Ministry of Health in Bahrain were introduced to the most effective leadership skills, styles, and practices in the Healthcare sector, through an interactive workshop entitled "Leadership in Healthcare Sector". The workshop was delivered by Dr. Malak Aoun, Assistant Professor at the Business Department at UCB, and the participants have shared their work experience, and assessed their own abilities to apply the leadership concepts. At the end of the workshop, Dr. Rana Sawaya, The Acting President of UCB, distributed certificates to all participants. Through the professional and academic experiences of the academic staff at the University College of Bahrain, this workshop is part of the University College of Bahrain's social responsibility towards the community.

نظمت كلية البحرين الجامعية ورشة عمل تفاعلية حول مهارات القيادة في قطاع الرعاية الصحية بالتعاون مع وزارة الصحة. وقدمت الورشة د. ملاك عون، الأستاذ المساعد بقسم إدارة الأعمال بكلية البحرين الجامعية إلى 24 موظفًا من وزارة الصحة. وتطرقت الورشة إلى أبرز المهارات والأساليب والممارسات القيادية في قطاع الرعاية الصحية، وشارك الحضور تجاربهم وخبراتهم العملية وقيموا إمكانياتهم وقدرتهم على تطبيق مفاهيم القيادة في مهامهم الوظيفية. واختتمت الورشة بتكريم د. رنا صوايا، القائم بأعمال رئيس كلية البحرين الجامعية، المشاركين بالورشة. وتأتي هذه الورشة في إطار جهود كلية البحرين الجامعية في تفعيل مبدأ الشراكة المجتمعية.
 

Ms. Natalija Gulei earned her Certified Associate in Project Management (CAPM) Certification.

Dr Rana Sawaya, Acting President, has participated as a Keynote Speaker at the RISE 2022 Conference “Organization development as explicit or implicit practice” and presented a paper “Leadership perception of improvisational competencies”. RISE Conference 2022 was held on November 28-29th, 2022 at Saint Joseph University Beirut sponsored by Academy of Management, Management Consulting Division, International Society for Organization Development, Change Family Business Network Levant, and University College of Bahrain .

.نظمت وحدة خدمة المجتمع بكلية البحرين الجامعية محاضرة عن التسويق الرقمي من تقديم الأستاذ محمد مراد. وتضمنت المحاضرة محاور في التسويق الرقمي، الفرق بينه وبين التسويق التقليدي، أساسيات التسويق الرقمي، مميزاته وفوائده، أساليب دراسة السوق وبناء الخطط التسويقية على تلك الدراسات، تحديد واستهداف الجمهور المناسب، وسائل التسويق الرقمي والاستخدام الأمثل لكل وسيلة. واختتمت المحاضرة بالإجابة عن أسئلة الحضور.

وقعت كلية البحرين الجامعية وجمعية الصحفيين البحرينية  مذكرة تفاهم تهدف لتعزيز التعاون والتنسيق وتنظيم المؤتمرات والمنتديات والورش الهادفة إلى تعزيز المهارات الابداعية والقدرات المهنية في مجالات الصحافة والإعلام.

وبموجب مذكرة التفاهم التي قام بتوقيعها كل من القائم بأعمال رئيس كلية البحرين الجامعية الدكتورة رنا صوايا، ورئيس مجلس إدارة جمعية الصحفيين البحرينية الأستاذ عيسى الشايجي، من المقرر أن يمنح طلبة الكلية مقاعد في الدورات والأنشطة التي تنظمها الجمعية وفقا للأعداد التي تحددها، فضلًا عن تبادل الزيارات الأكاديمية، والعلمية، والتدريبية، والثقافية بين الطرفين، بما في ذلك استقبال الطلبة لحضور جانب من الجلسات والندوات والفعاليات التي تنظمها الجمعية، واتاحة استخدام مرافق كلية البحرين الجامعية من مسرح ومختبرات وغيرها لخدمة أنشطة الجمعية.

وقد حضر توقيع مذكرة التفاهم عن كلية البحرين الجامعية المهندسة مروة السيد مدير مركز خدمة المجتمع بالكلية، والأستاذة ياسمينا زكي استاذة بقسم الإعلام بالكلية، فيما حضر من جمعية الصحفيين البحرينية كل من راشد الحمر أمين السر والعلاقات الدولية، يحيى العمري رئيس لجنة التدريب، سارة نجيب رئيس اللجنة الإعلامية، محمد الساعي رئيس لجنة الحريات، والمدير التنفيذي للجمعية فواز سليمان.

وأكدت الدكتورة رنا صوايا القائم بأعمال رئيس كلية البحرين الجامعية على أهمية ومكانة جمعية الصحفيين البحرينية، وفرص الاستفادة من الخبرات والكوادر المنضوية تحت مظلة الجمعية، بحيث تتاح لطلبة كلية الإعلام التعرف على تجاربهم والاستفادة منها، فضلًا عما تتيحه مذكرة التفاهم من امتيازات من المتوقع أن تنعكس بشكل إيجابي على مهاراتهم الوظيفية.

وبدوره، أشاد رئيس مجلس إدارة جمعية الصحفيين البحرينية الأستاذ عيسى الشايجي بالدور الكبير الذي تضطلع به كلية البحرين الجامعية، ودورها في رفد المؤسسات الإعلامية بالكوادر المؤهلة أكاديميًا، منوهًا بروح المبادرة المتعلقة بخدمة المجتمع والتعاون الإيجابي مع الجمعيات المهنية، بما يساهم في رفع مستوى وكفاءة المخرجات التعليمية.

وأكد الشايجي أن الجمعية حريصة على تقديم التدريب للصحفيين وطلبة الصحافة والاعلام، وتطوير مهاراتهم وقدراتهم بالتعاون والتنسيق مع مختلف الجهات ذات العلاقة.

نظمت المبادرة الوطنية لتنمية قطاع الزراعة ورشة عمل توعوية بكلية البحرين الجامعية عن المنصة الزراعية الأولى بمملكة البحرين من تقديم الاستاذ فهد المناعي اختصاصي تقنية معلومات في المبادرة

University College of Bahrain organized “Management between theory and practice” workshop. The workshop aimed to educate students about the keys to an effective management that will take them on leadership and managerial roles.

نظمت وحدة خدمة المجتمع بكلية البحرين الجامعية دورة الإدارة بين النظرية والتطبيق. وقدمت الدورة مدربة التطوير الأستاذة عفاف عسيري.

وسلطت الدورة التدريبية الضوء على مفهوم القيادة وأهم صفات القادة ومهاراته، مع بلورة النظرية الإسلامية في القيادة.

وتضمنت الدورة التدريبية محاور في الإدارة والقيادة والإبتكار والإبداع، وأهمية ومقومات كل منها.

نظم قسم الاتصال والوسائط المتعددة بكلية البحرين الجامعية رحلة تعليمية لطلبته إلى مركز الأيام الإعلامي. وتأتي الرحلة ضمن جهود الكلية في تعزيز الخبرة التعليمية للطلبة بالربط ما بين الجانب النظري ومتطلبات سوق العمل. وأشرفت على هذه الرحلة الدكتورة شيما بخاري، رئيسة قسم قسم الاتصال والوسائط المتعددة، والأستاذة ياسمينا زكي، المحاضرة بالقسم. وخلال الرحلة تعرف الطلاب على المراحل التي يمر بها إصدار الصحف قبل وبعد الطباعة والنشر، مع الجوانب الفنية والتشغيلية والتقنية في عملية إصدار الصحيفة.

ورشة تعديل الصور الفوتوغرافية باستخدام برنامج فوتوشوب

نظمت كلية البحرين الجامعية ورشة عمل تدريبية لمعالجة الصور وتعديلها باستخدام برنامجي Adobe Photoshop و Adobe Lightroom من تقديم الأستاذة ياسمينا زكي، المحاضر بقسم الاتصال والوسائط المتعددة بالكلية.

وقد تعرف المتدربون في بداية الورشة على المفاهيم النظرية الأساسية في مجال تعديل الصور مثل مكونات الصورة الرقمية، وشرح المصطلحات الرئيسية في تعديل الصور وفائدة كل منها، ثم التطبيق العملي لمعالجة وتعديل الصور الفوتوغرافية من مختلف الأنواع.

واختتمت الورشة بتقديم الأستاذة ياسمينا الملاحظات والنصائح التي تسهم في تطوير مستوى الحضور للارتقاء بأعمالهم في هذا المجال

كلية البحرين الجامعية تنظم رحلة تعليمية إلى مصنع موندليز البحرين

نظم قسم إدارة الأعمال بكلية البحرين الجامعية رحلة تعليمية لطلبة إدارة الأعمال إلى مصنع موندليز بحرين بسكتس ذ.م.م.

جاءت هذه الرحلة كتطبيق لاستراتيجيات التعلم المتبعة بمقرر إدارة الجودة الشاملة بهدف تعزيز الخبرة العلمية للطلبة بربط الجانب النظري بواقع سوق العمل لتطوير مهاراتهم المكتسبة خلال دراستهم بالجامعة.

وأشرف على هذه الرحلة الدكتور محمد رزقي، رئيس قسم إدارة الأعمال والدكتورة ملاك عون، أستاذة المقرر.

وقد تم تعريف الطلبة بالمصنع وقطاعاته ومعايير الجودة وتعليمات الأمن والسلامة المتبعة، وقام الطلبة بزيارة ميدانية لمحطات الإنتاج الأربع بالمصنع للتعرف على معايير الجودة وربطها بما يتم دراسته في المقرر. واختتمت الرحلة بالإجابة عن استفسارات الطلبة، وتوزيع الهدايا التذكارية من المصنع، والتكريم.

وأكد الدكتور محمد رزقي رئيس قسم إدارة الأعمال على الاهتمام الكبير الذي توليه الكلية بالرحلات الميدانية التعليمية لدورها في تحقيق أهداف الكلية في  صقل مهارات الطلبة، وتنويع خبراتهم، وتأهيلهم لدخول سوق العمل بأعلى كفاءة.

من جانبها أكدت سمر خليل المدير الإداري إن المصنع نظم بالتعاون مع كلية البحرين الجامعية هذه الرحلة التعليمية التي تعد الأولى من نوعها للمصنع إيمانًا بأهمية الشراكة بين المؤسسات التعليمية والقطاع الخاص في دعم الطلاب وتطويرهم وتهيئتهم.

وأضافت: "سعدنا وتشرفنا باستقبال طلبة كلية البحرين الجامعية لتعريفهم بالمصنع ومراحل الانتاج ومعايير الجودة المتبعة بالمصنع، ونطمح للمزيد من التعاون".

His Excellency, Vidar Helgesen, Executive Director of the Nobel Foundation since January 2021, has worked as a lawyer, diplomat and politician; this has included serving as Norway’s State Secretary for Foreign Affairs, Minister of European Affairs, Minister of Climate and the Environment, and Special Envoy to the international High Level Panel for a Sustainable Ocean Economy. Helgesen has also been the Secretary-General of the International Institute for Democracy and Electoral Assistance (IDEA) and has previously worked for the International Red Cross. During his period as State Secretary, Helgesen brokered peace negotiations in Sri Lanka and the Philippines. He has also served on the boards of the Centre for Humanitarian Dialogue in Geneva and the Norwegian Refugee Council, among other organisations.

The graduates shared their success stories and experiences, and how UCB contributed to preparing them for their careers, both in theory and in practice. The meeting was concluded with a heartwarming discussion between the participants.

Resume Writing workshop showed the students and graduates how their resume should look like, what sections and information to be included, and what mistakes they should avoid. The webinar was held on Thursday 8^th April 2021, from 2:00 to 3:00 pm.

“Fintech and Business in GCC Countries” webinar was organized by UCB’s Business Administration Department on Monday 5th April 2021, from 6:00 to 7:00 pm.

This Webinar discussed how Financial technology (fintech) has opened opportunities for entrepreneurs to leverage technology to deliver business services more efficiently. 

Business students should observe and understand current and upcoming business trends by the tech industry.

As part of its community engagement initiatives, University College of Bahrain joined the world on Saturday 27 march 2021, in marking “Earth Hour” in support of nature and our planet, by switching off unnecessary lights at all its buildings from 8:30 to 9:30 pm.Earth Hour started as a lights out event in Sydney, Australia in 2007.

The Department of Communication & Multimedia at UCB held a workshop entitled “Top 10 Corporate/Business Soft Skills”. This workshop gave a basic understanding of corporate skills and corporate account management, and how global organizations are employing corporate skills. Attendees were taught how to develop leadership, communication, and problem-solving skills. This workshop was held on Sunday 4th of April 2021, from 11:00 to 12:00 am.

The Department of Business Administration at UCB held a virtual webinar entitled “The latest Trends of Hospitality Management”.

In this session Mr. Charbel Hanna, Deputy General Manager at Gulf Hotel, talked about the different trends in hospitality management including guest experience, revenue management, and team welfare.

This webinar was held on Wednesday 31/3/2021, from 4:00 to 5:00 pm.

The Business Department at UCB held a webinar entitled “Interim Reporting Mistakes with Real Life Scenarios” on Sunday 28th of March 2021. The webinar was delivered by Mr. Abdulla Rawanbakhsh, Senior Group Internal Auditor at Bahrain National Holding.

Throughout the webinar, participants learned more about Interim Reporting, General Ledger & Sub-Ledger Reconciliation Process, and Provisions and Assumptions.

The workshop was concluded with an interactive Q&A session.

An online workshop titled “Creating an Online Portfolio” was conducted on Thursday the 25th of March 2021 by Mr. Munawar Mokhtar, Graphic Design lecturer, at UCB.

The workshop started with an overview of the different website builder tools followed by providing step-by-step recommendations to set-up a personal portfolio website using an online website builder, starting from creating an email account to finally publish the online portfolio. 

The workshop was concluded with an interactive Q&A session.

UCB participated in the Virtual University Fair organized by Injaz Bahrain on 14th March 2021.

Dr. Rana Sawaya, Director of Admissions and registration, represented UCB and introduced the university’s academic programs, admission procedures and student life.

“The Role of 5G in IOT” webinar was held on the 1st of March 2021 and was delivered by Dr Bilel Jamoussi- Chief of the Study Groups Department at the International Telecommunication Union Standardization Bureau in Geneva Switzerland. The webinar explained how the ITU is bringing together governments, industry, international organizations and academia to develop consensus based international standards for 5G and IoT, and how this work is shaping smart cities. The webinar also explored how 5G supports IoT applications across various industry sectors.

The Scientific Research Department of the Secretariat General of the Higher Education Council, in cooperation with the British Council and the UK Science and Innovation Network, organized a virtual ceremony to honor the winners of the "“The First National Research Competition for Undergraduate Students in institutions of higher education in the Kingdom of Bahrain ".UCB’s BSc IT student- Faisal Abdulrahman Al-Touri, participated in the competition for his project “Smart Magic Mirror”. 

The MBA Department organised an orientation session for its new students on the 18th of January, 2021 through Microsoft Teams. The students were welcomed by the Head of Business Administration Department and Director of the MBA program Dr. Abdullah Hadrami, introducing the faculty and administrative staff of the MBA department and discussing the program study plan, followed by the Registrar, Dr. Rana Sawaya explaining the policies and procedures, and culture at UCB. Brief presentations were made by Assistant Professors, Dr. Manal Taqata and Dr. Muhammad Rizky to introduce programs like Microsoft Teams and Turnitin used for online classes and assignment submissions. The event concluded with a question and answer session between students and faculty members.  

The Department of Information Technology  organized a webinar with Mr. Rajib Bhattacharya, Global Leader -Data Integration-Analytics, Data Science & Big Data Cargill, India on Dec 20, 2020 through Microsoft Teams. Mr. Rajib is a seasoned analytics professional, with skills in the areas of Analytics, Data Science, Big Data, Data Warehousing, Cognitive Computing and Blockchain.  

In the session Mr. Rajib explained Data Integration and how it is being used in different industries, elaborating detailed concepts of analytics, data science, management of big data, methodology of using data science and big data in industry. He also described how machine learning algorithms are applied to various kinds of data (i.e., text, numbers, audio, video) to retrieve data insight, generate Artificial Intelligence System, so business users can utilize such systems in their business for analysis.  He explained how data science integrates statistical, analytical, programing skills to collect, analyze and interpret meaningful information from large data sets. 

The webinar included a detailed discussion on data driven solution for major business challenges and how big data is used in various fields of industry, like finance, communication and retail industry and how data analytics are used in sectors like healthcare, travel and gaming. Students and faculty members greatly benefitted from the lecture which concluded with an interactive question and answer with Mr. Rajib.  

The Department of Business Administration hosted a webinar titled ‘COVID-19 and Its Impact on Economy, SMEs, and Education’ through MS Teams on Dec 20, 2020. The session hosted three guest speakers from Indonesia and Bahrain discussing the consequences of COVID-19.

Dr. Sutan Emir Hidayat- Director of Islamic Economy Supporting Ecosystem at the National Committee for Islamic Economy and Finance (KNEKS) in Indonesia explained the impact of the pandemic on the international economy, followed by Dr. Ahmad Rafiki- Head of Research, and the Head of Islamic Management and Halal Industry Center at Universitas Medan Area, Indonesia presenting the influence of the world health crisis on SMEs globally. Lastly, Dr. Adel Sarea- Associate Professor of Accounting and Economics at Ahlia University from Kingdom of Bahrain discussed the changes in the educational system as a result of this pandemic. The webinar was highly informative and interactive, concluding with a question-and-answer session between student, faculty members and the guest speakers.

The General Studies Unit in collaboration with the Student Affairs Office hosted Ms. Noor Toorani, Deputy Editor at the Gulf Daily News, Bahrain for an online webinar titled “How to be competent as a writer” on the 30^th of November 2020.

Ms. Toorani is a seasoned journalist, prolific speaker and trainer with vast experience in strategic communication, planning media campaigns, possessing exceptional writing and editing skills. During the session she highlighted simple steps on how to improve written communication skills, expressing one’s views in writing, how to avoid plagiarism, and how to use citations. The event concluded with an interactive question and answer session with students and faculty members relating to journalism and the current media market.

The Student Affairs Office organised an online breast cancer awareness session with Dr. Julie Sprakel, the Founder and President of Think Pink Bahrain, the first stand-alone breast cancer NGO in Bahrain. The aim of this session was to create breast cancer awareness among students and staff members not just for the month of October, highlighting the fact that being aware of the disease is a year around process. Early detection is the best protection.

Being a breast cancer survivor, Dr. Julie has volunteered her skills in developing the charity’s three core pillars- Education, Awareness and Research. During the session she shared valuable information about the ICheck Think Pink App emphasizing the importance of self- evaluation. Students and staff members greatly benefitted from the event which concluded with an interactive question and answer session with Dr. Julie.
